In the series of articles ‘The impact of HR Tech’, ImpactWork talks to various HR tech players about the impact they are making. This includes both the impact for clients and the contribution they make to the transition towards a sustainable and healthy labor market. We hope to inspire people to use HR Tech to accelerate their journey towards sustainability. This includes topics such as employee happiness, equal opportunities in employment, equal pay, payroll giving, and bias-free recruitment. This time, we are talking with Sandhna Chintoe, about Cammio.

The impact of Cammio

Who are you and what is your role within the organization?
I am Sandhna Chintoe, Co-CEO of Cammio, and I am primarily involved with everything related to the development and further development of our video recruitment platform.
What service or product do you offer?
Cammio is a video recruitment platform that supports the entire candidate journey with video to create a transparent and equitable process that yields the best matches.
Our platform originated in 2007 around asynchronous video interviews, where recruiters or hiring managers ask a number of questions via video, which the candidate can answer via video at their own convenience. This gives more candidates the opportunity to introduce themselves personally earlier in the process, and hiring teams can make decisions based on a more complete first impression. This asynchronous approach shortens the time-to-hire while maintaining a personal touch thanks to the videos.
Our platform has since been expanded and now includes, in addition to asynchronous and live interviews, video messaging and video vacancies, which enable the employer to establish an authentic employer brand.

Who is it suitable for and who is it not suitable for?
Cammio is suitable for all employers and agencies that want to create a fair and efficient process with video support and wish to present themselves in an authentic way.
How do you differentiate yourselves from competitors?
Cammio offers the ability to support the entire candidate journey using video, meaning that our platform can be used from the very first contact moment on LinkedIn to the online assessment.
What further sets us apart is our extensive experience. With a history dating back to 2007, we have built up expertise not only in video interviews but also in dealing with privacy legislation and other regulations. Our platform is developed with compliance and security in mind, enabling employers and agencies to implement video-supported processes with confidence.
Another important aspect is the support we offer to clients and their candidates. Our client success team is ready to guide the transition to a video-based process. Through training, video shoots, and implementation workshops, we ensure that our clients can switch smoothly and successfully to an innovative and efficient way of recruiting using video.

What is your view on a sustainable and healthy labor market?
Our vision of a sustainable and healthy labor market is based on striving for an equitable process where equal opportunities for everyone are central. We believe in a level playing field approach, where authenticity is valued in both employers and candidates. Promoting self-selection is an essential aspect of our perspective.
Furthermore, we are critical of the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential effect on candidates' opportunities. We strive to use technology in a responsible and ethical manner, ensuring that the recruitment process remains fair and transparent.
For us, a sustainable approach also means reducing travel for all parties involved. This not only contributes to sustainability but also makes it possible to reach talent on a broader scale, regardless of geographical location. In this way, we contribute to creating a labor market that is not only healthy but also accessible and inclusive for everyone.
In what way is sustainability reflected in your internal business operations?
In our internal business operations, we avoid the use of disposable promotional items and minimize the use of printed materials to limit our ecological footprint. In addition, we avoid travel when it is not necessary. Furthermore, we sponsor various non-profit organizations by allowing them to use our software free of charge. Our employees are given ample space to combine work and private life effectively with our work-from-anywhere policy.
How can customers use your products to make a positive impact?
Our customers can use our solutions to make a positive impact on their organization. The medium of video offers ample opportunity for creativity, personality, and humor. We see that our most successful clients use video to tell the authentic story behind their company or the open vacancy. This allows candidates to gain a better understanding of their own fit with the company, and video guides them quickly and personally through the recruitment process.
Telling the 'real' story contributes to building a strong connection between the company and potential employees. Through video, they can convey not only the company culture and values but also highlight the unique aspects of the open position.
The result is attracting motivated and well-suited new employees, which has a significant impact on the current and future success of their organization. The positive experience that candidates have during the recruitment process also contributes positively to the employer brand.
Can you give an example with concrete impact?
Our client Kantar, for example, has experienced significant positive changes after implementing our video recruitment platform. They saw a much more diverse workforce and were able to improve the recruitment experience for candidates. Our client MOIA saw a clear improvement in important KPIs. For example, they were able to reduce time-to-hire by 50% and the no-show rate by 14% with the help of asynchronous video interviews. Thanks to video messages, the response rate to sourcing messages increased to 46%.
Do you have plans on the roadmap that contribute to a sustainable labor market?
Our roadmap includes various initiatives aimed at promoting a sustainable labor market. We strive to make our approach both data-driven and candidate-centric. On the one hand, we want to give candidates control over how they present themselves to the employer, and at the same time, provide employers with all the tools to create an authentic employer brand with limited resources.
'Video has increasingly replaced text in many media and processes in recent years. Consider social media, messaging, meetings, and collaboration. Video has also been a powerful development in recruitment for some time. And Cammio was an early pioneer in 2013. Yet, in my work, I still see many recruitment processes that consist of a traditional job description, an extensive application form, a CV check, a live video call, and often a face-to-face interview. Who still wants to do all that reading and fill out all those forms? Certainly not most candidates. So create a video job posting, accept video applications, record your interview questions on video, and let candidates answer when they want. A more enjoyable experience for both parties. But more importantly: the use of video leads to better matches. And it also saves a lot of travel miles. Not using video in your recruitment process yet? Contact us for a simple pilot and let the results convince you.'
