Getting the data right

DJI aims to establish a data-driven recruitment and selection process to address critical challenges. This initiative seeks to create a structured and periodic measurement system that combines results, process data, and experience metrics. The project is designed to provide DJI with the tools and insights needed to overcome its recruitment challenges and ensure it can meet its operational demands. This data-driven approach will enable DJI to make informed decisions, optimize recruitment processes, and ultimately improve the effectiveness of its talent acquisition efforts.

This program is still running. Results mentioned are the overall improvement in 2024 versus 2023.

Why?

The problem

DJI is facing significant capacity problems in its prisons due to staff shortages. Key challenges include:

  • Capacity Shortfall: A substantial number of prison cells are unusable due to a lack of staff.

  • Balancing Intake and Outflow: While recruitment teams have increased intake, maintaining this rise is difficult due to staff turnover from factors like retirement and new job opportunities.

  • Need for Scalability and Efficiency: There's a need to increase recruitment capacity and resources while simultaneously improving efficiency.

  • Insufficient Insight: Current management lacks adequate insight into performance metrics, transaction data, and feedback from stakeholders like hiring managers, candidates, and recruiters.

Our solution

The proposed solution involves a data-driven approach to recruitment and selection, focusing on:

  • Establishing a Measurement System: Creating a structured system to monitor results, process flow, and experience data to inform better decision-making.

  • Data-Driven Collaboration: Implementing new methods and structures to foster data-driven collaboration among stakeholders for developing solutions and experiments.

  • Phased Implementation: Adopting an agile approach to deliver value quickly through short iterations, with the scope adjustable to maximize value delivery.

  • Key Deliverables:

    • A dashboard based on a defined dataset to provide insights for management.
    • Improved data quality through monitoring and enhancement of data input.
    • A shift towards a data-driven mindset and methodology within the recruitment organization.
